The first Qingdao Multinationals Summit (hereinafter referred to as “the Summit")，approved by the State Council, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and Shandong Provincial People's Government, was successfully held in Qingdao from October 19 to 20, 2019. President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the Summit, pointed out that during the more than 40 years of China's reform and opening up, multinational corporations, as important participants,witnesses and beneficiaries,have played an active role. More than 5,000 representatives of multinational corporations, international organizations, business associations, experts and scholars from 81 countries and regions attended the Summit. Focusing on the annual theme of“Multinationals and China”,participants had in-depth exchanges on deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and reached broad consensus and a number of practical results during 33 activities rich in content and novel in form. The successful Summit fully demonstrated the great achievements of China's cooperation with multinational corporations over the past 40 years of reform and opening up, highlighted China's firm determination to further open to the world, vigorously signaled that we welcome multinational corporations to share the opportunities in China's market to rapidly develop, attracted great attention and positive response from the participants and the international community,and strengthened the confidence of multinational corporations in investing in China.
